We’re speeding right along as Kotoko and Naoki prepare for graduation and the transition into adulthood. As a married couple, the two carry a bit more baggage than your normal young adult and find themselves faced with a problem neither of them are prepared for. Yet if Itazura na Kiss has proven anything, there’s nothing Kotoko and Naoki can’t overcome together.
Maybe it’s because I had really, really low expectations for Gomen ne Seishun!, but it’s become my favorite drama this season. It’s not perfect as there’s really no clear-cut narrative so it feels like it’s meandering sometimes, especially the middle episodes, but something about Gomen ne Seishun! has me completely hooked.
Finally, after so much waiting, Itazura na Kiss returns for its second season and it feels good to know I get to see the Iries on my screen every week. With the honeymoon over, the newlyweds now have to settle into married life and Kotoko gets a harsh reality check when she realizes that it’s not all sunshine and roses like she imagined.
